The Grisons-born Christina Ragettli is an adventurer who leaves the conquering to others. For her, it’s not about spectacle but about experience. After intense preparation, she set out in the summer of 2020 to hike the red route of the Via Alpina – 2,363 kilometres across the Alps from Trieste to Monaco. In her book Von Wegen, Ragettli takes readers along as she walks, step by step, with backpack and tent across sometimes unmarked trails, over steep mountain passes, and camps beside picturesque alpine lakes. From May to October, she follows her dream with unwavering determination through wind, rain, snow, and heat – allowing herself an occasional small comfort along the way. Christina Ragettli speaks about solitude and arrival, quiet doubts and fierce resolve, about a path that is much more than just a hike.
